FOUNDATIONS OF COGNITIVE HEALTH

IRELAND

WELLNESS & PREVENTION INTENSIVE

MODULE 1

A 3-month community-based program designed to optimize brain health and prevent cognitive decline

The fear of Alzheimer’s is real.

Modern research has changed the picture.

You may have watched someone you love change in slow, painful ways — first the small slips, then the larger losses…

This does not have to be your story.

Cognitive decline is not inevitable. Current evidence from sources like the Lancet Commission suggest that up to ~45% of dementia cases might be preventable through comprehensive risk‑factor modification.

Brain changes take place over a 10-20 year period which is why early action matters — and prevention is more powerful when you identify risk patterns before symptoms become entrenched.

A ROOT-CAUSE APPROACH TO BRAIN HEALTH

Foundations is built around the revolutionary research of Dr. Dale Bredesen whose PreCODE / ReCODE protocols approach cognitive decline as a multifactorial process influenced by metabolism, inflammation, sleep, toxins, stress, exercise, cardiovascular health, nutrition, and more.

Instead of focusing on symptoms alone or a one-size fits all treatment, Foundations of Cognitive Health integrates evidence-based dietary and lifestyle interventions with Āyurvedic and precision medicine to identify the factors that may be affecting your brain health and give you personalized support.

WHO IS FOUNDATIONS FOR?

Foundations is not a quick fix. It is for the person who is proactive and prevention minded and wants to understand what drives cognitive decline and leave with a practical roadmap they can use for the rest of their life to support themselves and their loved ones.

  • Those with a family history of Alzheimer's

  • Peri/menopausal women — who are twice as likely to be diagnosed with Alzheimer's due to the neuroprotective role of estrogen declining during this transition

  • Those noticing early cognitive changes — brain fog, memory slips, or reduced mental clarity

  • People with metabolic risk factors — insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, hormone imbalances, or high toxic burden

  • People with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)

  • People with an Alzheimer’s/dementia diagnosis with a dedicated support person to take part in the program with them*

  • ApoE4 gene carriers

  • Healthy adults in their 40’s and 50’s+ wanting to proactively protect their brain health

*If you are the caregiver of someone with Alzheimer’s, please indicate this in your application.

About Scott Blossom

Scott’s personal journey into brain health was inspired by the loss of his mother to Alzheimer’s in 2020. What started as subtle changes in her decision-making and organization eventually led to a diagnosis of Ophthalmic Alzheimer’s. He and his twin brother cared for her at home, witnessing firsthand the emotional, physical, and financial toll of the disease. This deeply personal experience led him to explore not only the scientific causes of cognitive decline but also holistic ways to prevent and reverse its effects.

Scott has integrated Traditional Chinese (TCM), Āyurveda, Yoga somatics, and evidence-based nutrition into his clinical practice and educational offerings for more than 25 years. Experience has taught him that the one secret to health is not a what, not a product or a specific practice, but how to adapt whatever you are doing so it remains potent and agile through the days and seasons of your life.

With nearly three decades of experience in holistic health, Scott has guided thousands of clients toward better well-being by blending the wisdom of Āyurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and yoga with modern neuroscience.

Scott has trained in Dr. Dale Bredesen’s cutting-edge ReCODE protocol, which has shown cognitive improvements in 84% of participants in clinical trials. With the combined power of modern medicine–through lab testing, precision medicine, and recent research–and ancient, holistic modalities–Āyurveda, TCM, and Yoga, Scott is changing the narrative around what’s possible with cognitive decline.

Louise Waters is a holistic health practitioner with more than 25 years' experience in the wellness industry. She is a qualified Massage Therapist, Naturopath, Western Herbalist, yoga teacher and founder of The Natural Therapies Centre in Sligo, where she supports people through an integrative approach to health that combines movement, therapeutic bodywork, restorative practices and lifestyle medicine. Her interest in cognitive health became deeply personal when her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.

Like many families, Louise experienced the uncertainty, isolation and profound changes that accompany a diagnosis. It also highlighted the importance of education, early prevention and having a supportive community to walk alongside you.

This experience inspired Louise to become involved in cognitive health education and prevention. She completed Scott's six-month Cognitive Health program, exploring the latest evidence around lifestyle medicine and brain health while gaining practical tools to help people reduce their risk of cognitive decline and optimise brain function throughout life.

As facilitator of the Sligo community programme, Louise's role is to bring people together in a warm, supportive environment where learning becomes action. She believes lasting change happens not only through knowledge, but through meaningful connection, shared experience and consistent, everyday practices that support healthy ageing. Louise is passionate about helping people discover that there is so much we can do to care for our brains long before symptoms appear. Her hope is to foster the kind of informed, compassionate community that she wishes had been available for her own family, while empowering others to take positive steps towards lifelong cognitive health.

About Louise Waters

About Adela Bustamante

Adela is an Ayurvedic practitioner and women's health coach with more than a decade of clinical experience supporting women through the great transitions of their lives. Her practice integrates clinical Ayurveda, therapeutic bodywork, functional health coaching, and lifestyle medicine, with a particular passion for the perimenopause and menopause years. Originally from Ecuador, she carries a lineage of plant medicine and earth-based healing passed down through generations of her land.

Trained as a ReCODE health coach in Dr. Dale Bredesen's protocol, Adela bridges precision medicine — personalized intervention — with Ayurveda's time-tested frameworks for nourishing the brain and nervous system through every season of life.

Her path into cognitive health began in her own body. Entering peri menopause, Adela experienced firsthand the brain fog, the sleep disruption, the sense of a mind she no longer recognized — and discovered how often women are told this is simply something to endure. What she learned walking her own passage, alongside the lived experiences of her patients and cohorts, revealed what the research now confirms: the menopause transition is a neurological threshold, not merely a hormonal one. Nearly two-thirds of those living with Alzheimer's are women, and the risk begins taking shape decades before symptoms appear — in the very years these concerns are most dismissed.

As coach for this cohort, Adela walks beside each participant the way she wishes someone had walked beside her — turning knowledge into daily rhythm, adapting the protocol to real life, honest accountability check ins, and providing the kind of steady, warm guidance that makes lasting change possible.

“Having worked with Scott for more than two decades, I can say that this interest and ability to integrate conventional and traditional medicinal modalities will well serve his patients seeking to prevent or reverse cognitive decline.”

— Dr. Robert Svoboda, Āyurveda physician and Author

"As an orthodontist specializing in airway (sleep/breathing) issues I am excited to see that the ReCODE protocol links healthy breathing patterns to sleep as a pillar of their preventative framework for promoting optimal brain health. Scott’s background in biology combined with his deep expertise in yogic breathing techniques gives him a unique perspective on how to help patients benefit from improving their breathing. I look forward to seeing his work continue to evolve and collaborating with him to improved patient care.”

— Dr. Claire Ferrari, Ferrari Orthodontics

"I know Scott as a teacher and colleague. He is among the few that has dug this very deep well into a fully embodied experience of Āyurveda and yoga.

Scott has a special talent and passion for translating how modern biological and psychological health modalities can be integrated with traditional health and healing traditions such as Āyurveda and Yoga."

— Erin Casperson, Director of the Kripalu School of Āyurveda
